The Power of Storytelling
Storytelling has been a fundamental part of human culture for centuries. It is a way for individuals to connect, empathize, and explore different worlds without leaving their seats. For dyslexics, storytelling can serve as a much-needed escape from the challenges of reading.

Each story is carefully crafted to immerse readers into a world where their reading difficulties are forgotten. Whether it is a fantastical adventure, a thrilling mystery, or a heartwarming tale, Overshoot World ensures that dyslexics find themselves hooked from the very first page.
The Journey of Overshoot World
The brainchild of renowned author and advocate for dyslexic individuals, Emily Thompson, Overshoot World was born out of a passion to make reading accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Having experienced the challenges of dyslexia firsthand, Thompson wanted to create a space that would encourage dyslexics to embrace the world of books and storytelling.
Thompson's vision for Overshoot World grew from a mere idea into a transformative platform for dyslexics. With the help of a dedicated team of writers, editors, and designers, she began creating stories that were not only captivating but also catered specifically to the needs of dyslexic readers.
The Features of Overshoot World
Overshoot World prides itself on several features that make it stand out in the realm of dyslexia-friendly storytelling. Let's take a closer look at what makes this platform unique:
Dyslexia-Friendly Fonts and Formatting:
Reading can be a visually challenging task for dyslexics due to the nature of their disorder. Overshoot World addresses this issue by utilizing fonts and formatting techniques specifically designed to enhance readability for dyslexic readers. These adjustments include increased spacing between letters and words, larger font size, and clear differentiation between uppercase and lowercase letters.
Audio Accompaniment:
In addition to dyslexia-friendly fonts, Overshoot World incorporates audio accompaniment for its stories. This feature allows dyslexic readers to listen to the story while following along with the text, helping to improve word recognition and comprehension. The audio is narrated by professional voice actors who bring the characters and world of Overshoot World to life.
Interactive Illustrations:
Visual aids play a crucial role in enhancing the reading experience for dyslexics. Overshoot World integrates interactive illustrations throughout its stories, giving readers a multi-sensory experience. These illustrations not only captivate the imagination but also aid in comprehension and engagement.
Community Engagement:
Overshoot World understands the importance of community support and engagement. Dyslexic readers can connect with each other, share their thoughts, and even collaborate on creating their own stories. This sense of belonging fosters a supportive environment where dyslexics can uplift and inspire one another.
Why Overshoot World Matters?
Overshoot World goes beyond simply providing entertainment for dyslexic readers. It addresses a real need in the dyslexic community – the lack of accessible and engaging literature. By crafting stories specifically tailored to dyslexics, this platform empowers individuals to overcome their reading obstacles and unlock their potential.
Reading is not just about learning; it's about expanding horizons, igniting imagination, and fostering a love for discovery. Through Overshoot World, dyslexics can experience the joy of getting lost in a story, just like their non-dyslexic peers.
Don't let dyslexia be a barrier to your love for reading. Overshoot World is on a mission to change the narrative and provide dyslexics with the literary experience they deserve. So dive into the enchanting world of Overshoot World and let your imagination soar!

These were previously published by Oxford University Press in the Headwork series of readers. The stories were written by Michael Thomson who now retains the copyright and is self publishing them for you!
The stories are so called “High-Low” readers. That is of high interest but low reading age, or in other words with normal comprehension levels but easier to ‘decode’ or read. They were tried out on children at East Court, a school for dyslexic children and are aimed at an interest level of around 11-14. There are a range of genres from contemporary through fantasy, humour and true 2nd world war stories. They are written in 4 levels of basic reading difficulty starting around the 8 year reading age with level 1 being the easiest to read. However, the themes and interest level are all still at the 11-14 age range.
