This book details a circular road trip around Europe starting in Frankfurt, Germany and travelling through Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic and finally back to Frankfurt, Germany. Europe is a great location for a road trip with an excellent road system and an exciting number of locations to visit.
In Germany after exploring Frankfurt we headed south towards Basel in Switzerland stopping in the small towns of Heidelberg, Freiburg im Brasgau and Furtwangen on the outskirts of the Black Forest.
Switzerland offered some stunning scenery from the beautiful Lake Lucerne to the high snow-covered Mount Titlis in the Alps. On the route to Austria we passed through the tiny country of Liechtenstein stopping for a visit in the capital of Vaduz.
Austria offered another mountainous area with beautiful historical towns and small villages to explore. A surprise hot air balloon trip in the countryside on the outskirts of Vienna gave us an incredible perspective of this country. Vienna was full of wonderful old architecture with palaces, churches and the fabulous Vienna State Opera which we had the opportunity to tour inside and then attend an evening concert.
Heading to Budapest in Hungary we briefly stopped in the small town of Győr. Two days in Budapest gave us the chance to explore this incredible city with old churches, castles and of course the beautiful River Danube which splits the city. And just to add some excitement there was a large political demonstration occurring during our visit.
Our final stop was Prague and this really was a fabulous old city with so many things to do and see. From the iconic Charles Bridge it was easy to walk up to the Prague Castle and get a fabulous view over the city.
This book, full of images from each location, detailed maps and some brief descriptive text, should help you in perhaps planning a road trip of your own around Europe to experience these places for yourself.
